The Project: Beating Fareham's Energy Costs

This family in Fareham, Hampshire contacted us looking for a way to reduce their monthly outgoings. With a busy household and high evening energy usage, they were purchasing a significant amount of electricity from the grid at peak rates.

Our solution was to design a high-efficiency Hybrid Solar System. By combining generation with battery storage, we ensured they could capture the sun's energy during the day and use it to power their home in the evening—effectively running their house for free after sunset.

The Technology Installed

1. Jinko Tiger Neo Solar Panels (440W)

We installed 10x Jinko N-Type panels. These premium all-black panels were chosen for two reasons:

  • Superior Aesthetics: They look fantastic on the slate roof, maintaining the property's curb appeal.
  • Cloud Performance: Jinko's N-Type technology delivers better performance on overcast days, which is essential for maximizing yield in the UK climate.

2. Fox ESS Energy Storage

To tackle the family's evening energy usage, we installed a Fox ESS 3.7kW Hybrid Inverter coupled with 5.2kWh of Battery Storage.

This allows the homeowners to store excess energy generated while they are at work. Instead of sending that cheap energy back to the grid, it is stored in the batteries and automatically discharged when they get home to cook dinner, watch TV, and run appliances. 3. Free Bird Protection Upgrade

As with all our premium installations, we included our Free Bird Proofing Package (worth £300). Fareham has a significant seagull and pigeon population due to its coastal proximity. Our mesh system prevents pests from nesting under the array, protecting the cables from damage and eliminating fire risks.

Client Feedback

Why Hampshire is Perfect for Solar

The South Coast Advantage

Fareham, Portsmouth, and Southampton benefit from some of the highest solar irradiance levels in the UK. Being on the south coast means properties here generate approximately 10-15% more electricity than identical systems in the north of England.

This geographical advantage makes the Return on Investment (ROI) for solar batteries significantly faster for Hampshire residents.

Serving The Solent Area

Starks Solar isn't a national chain; we are local experts. We understand the specific challenges of installing near the coast, such as:

  • Salt Mist Corrosion: We only use panels tested for coastal resilience.
  • High Wind Loads: Our mounting systems are calculated to withstand south coast gales.
  • Seagull Protection: Our bird guards are heavy-duty to stop larger coastal birds.
